Meet Sammy: A Sweet Girl Ready for Her Next Chapter
Meet Sammy: A Sweet Girl Ready for Her Next Chapter
As we prepare for our upcoming move to Texas, we’re making some difficult but necessary decisions—and one of those is finding the perfect forever home for Sammy.
Sammy is a 5-year-old female from one of our very own litters, born on February 18, 2021, to Bella and Biscuit. She has grown into a beautiful, well-balanced dog with that classic golden coat—smooth, silky, and right between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador.
In both looks and personality, Sammy takes after her momma. She has a sweet, gentle nature and a fun little quirk—she’s almost always carrying something in her mouth (sometimes just for the joy of it). It’s one of those small things that makes her incredibly endearing.
Sammy has been an excellent part of our program and a wonderful mom, raising three litters of beautiful puppies. She’s done her job faithfully, and we want her to continue enjoying life in a home where she can continue receiving attention, affection, and care she deserves.
We are asking $750 for Sammy as a pet.
Breeding rights are available for an additional $750.
Our goal is simple: to find Sammy a loving, stable home where she will be cherished as part of the family.
We are located in Roundup, Montana. If you’re interested in learning more about Sammy or would like to schedule a time to meet her, please reach out. We would love to help you determine if she’s the right fit for your home.
This is a bittersweet transition for us, but we’re confident that the right family is out there for Sammy—and we can’t wait to see her step into this next chapter of her life.
A Grateful Goodbye to Another Wonderful Litter 🐾💛
A Grateful Goodbye to Another Wonderful Litter 🐾💛
There’s something special about the moment when the last puppy goes home. The house feels a little quieter, the routines shift, and the joyful chaos of a full litter gives way to reflection and gratitude.
We’re excited to share that Frito, our last available puppy, has officially found his forever home. With that, every puppy from this litter has been placed with a loving family. It’s always a bittersweet milestone—but one we celebrate wholeheartedly.
To each of the families who welcomed one of these AKC purebred Golden Retrievers into your homes: congratulations. It means so much to us to know that these puppies are not just going to good homes, but to families who are eager to love, care for, and grow with them. Watching each pup leave with their new family is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
This litter has been especially memorable. From their earliest days to their final goodbyes, these puppies have brought so much life, laughter, and energy into our home. Each one had their own personality, and it’s been a joy getting to know them and help prepare them for the next chapter.
We also want to take a moment to thank everyone who played a part in this journey. Whether you reached out with interest, shared our posts, encouraged us along the way, or simply followed along—you’ve been part of what made this such a great experience. Your support truly means a lot to our family.
As we close this chapter, we do so with full hearts. While the house may be a little quieter for now, we’re thankful for the opportunity to raise these puppies and connect them with such wonderful families.
Until the next litter, thank you again for being part of the journey. 🐶💛
Last Chance to Bring Home Frito: Our Final Montana Golden Retriever Puppy
If you’ve been thinking about adding a Golden Retriever to your family, this is your moment—but you’ll want to move quickly.
From a litter of nine beautiful puppies, we are now down to just one remaining male, and his name is Frito.
Frito is the kind of puppy that makes an impression right away. He’s adventurous, always eager to explore his surroundings and discover something new. But he’s also a cuddler at heart, just as happy to settle in beside you after a day of play. That balance of curiosity and affection is what makes Golden Retrievers such incredible companions—and Frito is no exception.
This litter is especially significant for us because it is our final litter in Montana before we make our move to Texas. For families in the area, this will be the last opportunity to bring home a puppy from us locally.
Frito will receive his 8-week veterinary visit on March 24th, which includes a full health check, vaccinations, and deworming. He will be ready to go to his forever home on March 25th, fully prepared for a healthy start with his new family.
We are located in Roundup, Montana, and we are currently scheduling final appointments and accepting deposits.
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and well-cared-for Golden Retriever, Frito is ready to meet you.
Don’t wait—he’s the last one, and he won’t be available for long.
Message us today to reserve Frito or schedule a visit.
Only Three Golden Retriever Puppies Still Available!
Six-and-a-half weeks ago, we welcomed a litter of nine beautiful Golden Retriever puppies into the world—four girls and five boys. Watching them grow, play, and develop their personalities has been a joy for our family. Since then, several wonderful families have already chosen their new companions.
At this point, all four girls have been reserved, and only three boys remain available.
These puppies are AKC purebred Golden Retrievers, raised in a family environment and prepared to transition smoothly into their new homes. Each puppy will go home with:
AKC registration papers
A documented pedigree (family tree)
An eight-week veterinary visit, which includes:
A full health check
First vaccinations
Deworming
The puppies will be ready to go to their forever homes beginning March 25.
If you are interested in welcoming one of these boys into your family, we would love to hear from you. Send us a message to schedule an appointment or place a deposit to reserve your puppy.

Celebrating 10 Years of Oakes Family Golden Retrievers
I was going through some old USB drives today and stumbled across photos from when we launched Oakes Family Golden Retrievers 10 years ago. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come—and it made me stop and reflect on this incredible journey.
Over the past decade, our family has grown and changed:
Noah, our oldest, is now a sophomore in college.
Elijah, our middle son, will be graduating high school in just a few months.
Our original dogs, Biscuit and Bella, passed away last year.
And in June, our family will be moving to Texas.
As our Montana chapter comes to a close, we want to make sure anyone looking for a Golden Retriever puppy from us has a chance with our current litter. We have 5 boys and 4 girls, and three of the girls already have deposits. If you’re interested in reserving a puppy or scheduling a visit, now is the time to reach out.
Here’s the plan for the rest of the year:
Sammy, the mom of this litter, will be rehomed once all her puppies are sold.
Buttercup will move with us to Texas, and she will have one final litter before we rehome Charlie.
For anyone looking for a 5-year-old male or female golden—or potentially interested in breeding rights—or if you know friends or family in the DFW Metroplex area who want a puppy later this year, this is your chance.
Once Buttercup’s litter is sold in Texas, she’ll be spayed, and our breeding journey will come to a close. We’ll keep the Facebook page active because we love seeing your puppy updates, and we may continue the website as a Golden Retriever blog and merchandise hub—time will tell!
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with us. From our family to yours, we’re grateful for the love, support, and countless happy memories that these wonderful dogs have brought into our lives.

Golden Retriever Puppy Development: Days 13–21
When the World Begins to Open
The period between days 13–21 marks one of the most exciting developmental stages in a Golden Retriever puppy’s life. This is the moment when puppies begin transitioning from a purely instinctive, sensory-limited existence into active engagement with the world around them.
In short: things get fun fast.
What Happens During Days 13–21?
During this window, several major developmental milestones occur almost simultaneously:
Eyes Open and Begin to Focus
By this stage, puppies’ eyes are fully open. While their vision is still developing, they can now perceive light, movement, and basic shapes—an essential step toward curiosity and learning.
Ears Open and Hearing Emerges
Puppies begin responding to sound for the first time. This early exposure lays groundwork for confidence, adaptability, and sound tolerance later in life.
Movement and Exploration
Those early, wobbly motions quickly turn into intentional crawling and early walking. Puppies start exploring their environment, interacting more with littermates, and discovering boundaries.
Early Social Awareness
This stage introduces the first layers of social development. Puppies become aware of siblings, begin early play behaviors, and respond more meaningfully to gentle human interaction.
Why This Stage Matters
Days 13–21 help form the foundation for what Golden Retrievers are beloved for:
✔ Gentle temperament
✔ Intelligence and responsiveness
✔ Strong people-oriented bonding
Positive handling, calm environments, and attentive care during this period support emotional stability and confidence as puppies grow.
Our Puppies Right Now
Our Golden Retriever puppies are currently in this developmental window—eyes open, ears tuned in, and personalities beginning to emerge. Each day brings noticeable growth, curiosity, and connection.
If you’re considering adding a Golden Retriever to your family, this stage marks the very beginning of that lifelong story: loyalty, joy, and companionship wrapped in a golden coat.
For more information on availability, pricing, or reservations, feel free to reach out through our contact page. We’re always happy to answer questions and share more about our puppies.
(Warning: once you see them at this stage, self-control becomes optional.)

Puppy News: Sammy Welcomes 9 Golden Retriever Puppies
Our almost 5-year-old Golden Retriever, Sammy, has welcomed a litter of nine healthy puppies.
We’re excited to share some joyful news from our home!
Our almost 5-year-old Golden Retriever, Sammy, has welcomed a litter of nine healthy puppies. Mom and pups are all doing very well, and our days are currently filled with tiny paws, soft whimpers, and more smiles than sleep.
Sammy has been a wonderful, attentive mom, and it’s been a gift to watch these puppies grow day by day. If you’ve ever been around Golden Retrievers, you know they have a way of filling a home with warmth, loyalty, and joy—and this litter is already living up to that reputation.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about these puppies, feel free to message me directly. I’m happy to share details and answer questions.
Thanks for celebrating this happy season with us, and for any prayers for continued health for Sammy and her puppies. More updates (and likely photos) to come—because resisting puppy pictures is not one of our spiritual gifts. 🐶💛
